Who is your trusted advisor and how do you find one?

Trusted advisors

Who are you going to call? – Trusted advisors of course!

When it comes to your career and work it’s important to have a few people who are your support crew. Someone who will listen, challenge and give you guidance when you need it. That’s a trusted advisor.

We have put together some tips to help you get started with working out or re-evaluating your crew:

TIP #1:

When selecting trusted advisors be sure to choose people who will challenge you in a supportive way.

It is important they can give you the best advice based on your circumstances without bias.

In most cases, it will be more beneficial to you if this person has little invested in your success.

Why?

This allows them to be able to look at your situation from a subjective point of view.

TIP #2:

Have a clear goal in mind and take some time to think who the right people are to be your advisors.

Have a sense for yourself what they bring to the table, what capabilities they have and be clear on what it is you believe you can learn from them.

TIP #3:

What about their network?

If you have a strong relationship with your trusted advisors (in an open and honest way), will they also be able to support you with other connections in their network? Or can they steer you to other places to help you build your network?

Do you need help in finding trusted advisors?

Let's have a discussion.
